Agustín Rossi’s week began on a high note as he celebrated a significant milestone of 200 matches with Flamengo, following a victory against Atlético-MG in the Brazilian Championship. This achievement was commemorated on Tuesday morning, where the goalkeeper received a special jersey from the club’s football director, José Boto.
Since joining Flamengo over three years ago, the Argentine goalkeeper has made a remarkable impact, setting individual records and contributing to the team’s collective success. Reflecting on his journey, Rossi expressed his pride in becoming part of the club’s history.
“When I arrived, one of my first statements was that I wanted to make my history here at the club. Today, reaching the tenth place among the goalkeepers with the most matches for Flamengo, being the goalkeeper with the most minutes without conceding goals, and achieving the top spot in the number of matches without being scored on this century is very important and gratifying for me,” he stated.
Since his debut on September 20, 2023, Rossi has recorded 117 wins, 51 draws, and 32 losses, with 147 goals conceded and 95 clean sheets. In the current season, he has played 52 matches, achieving 30 victories, 14 draws, and eight losses, while conceding 46 goals and providing one assist.
Rossi holds the record for the longest time without conceding a goal in Flamengo’s history, having gone 1,134 minutes without being scored on during the first half of 2024. His consistent performances have placed him among the top ten goalkeepers in the club’s history, surpassing notable figures like Yustrich.
In terms of penalty saves, Rossi has faced 39 penalties, saving 12 (30.8%), with two missed and one hitting the post, while 24 resulted in goals.
Born in Buenos Aires, Rossi has now matched the Paraguayan Reyes for the fifth position among foreign players with the most matches for Flamengo, becoming the second foreign goalkeeper to reach 200 appearances, following García.
Throughout his time at Flamengo, Rossi has secured seven titles, including three state championships and the Copa do Brasil in 2024, among others. He expressed his desire to continue contributing to the club’s legacy, stating, “I hope to remain part of Flamengo’s history for many years. My family and I are very happy here, and I can only thank the club and everyone who works with us to achieve these milestones.”
Rossi has played more matches for Flamengo than any other club, having previously played 151 matches for Boca Juniors and several others for different teams.
